Midweek Pennant Wimmera Region Champions Apr 2024
The Horsham City Bowling Clubs Midweek Pennant Team have won the Wimmera Regional Championship held at the Warracknabeal Bowls Club on 3 April 2024.
Horsham City competed against the Midweek Pennant winners from the North Central, Grampians and North Wimmera Bowls Playing Areas of the Wimmera Region.
Horsham City won all three matches.
In the first game against Rainbow, the North Wimmera winners, Horsham City won 42 shots to 35. John Lehmann’s team of Beverley Bretag, Marie Lehmann and Hux Mitchell recorded a great win 22 shots to 8.
In the second game against Wedderburn, the North Central winners, Horsham City won 43 shots to 35. Geffrey Inglis’s team of Betty Cozens, Elsie Bardell and Derek Ballinger had a mighty win 21 shots to 7.
In the final game Horsham played the unbeaten team of Chalambar, from the Grampians Playing Area, and had a match winning win of 43 to 40 shots. John Lehmann’s team recorded another great win 17 shots to 8.
The Horsham City Bowlers will now compete against winners from the 15 other regions, in the State Championships to be played at the Moama Bowling Club on the 6 and 7 May, to determine the Victorian State Midweek Pennant Champion for 2023-24.
Club President Colin Morrell said that this was an amazing effort by the Midweek Team and wished them well in the State Final at Moama.
